Shilume: A Century of Inlaid Stone Art
Founded in 1912 in Wenzhou during the late Qing Dynasty, Shilume derives its name from honoring the virtue of gentlemen. As a time-honored brand of colored stone inlay craftsmanship, it ran a shop-front-and-workshop model and exported fine artworks to Germany, Belgium, France and beyond, becoming a pillar of Wenzhou's export industry in the Republican era.
In 2013, Miao Yichuan, the fourth-generation inheritor, returned to carry forward and innovate the heritage. Today, with a comprehensive base integrating design, production and experience, Shilume revives intangible cultural heritage with contemporary aesthetics, creating poetic Chinese-style art that originates from, integrates with and elevates life.
